Future Earth’s 2024–2025 Annual Report
2024–2025 was a year of momentum, connection, and bold action. As environmental and societal disruptions intensified, Future Earth deepened its efforts to bridge science, policy, and local action. Across disciplines and continents, the network advanced knowledge, built partnerships, and elevated diverse voices working toward a more just and sustainable future.
Future Earth continued to bridge science, policy, and action amid growing global disruption, advancing key research, building regional leadership, and amplifying diverse voices. From contributing to upcoming IPCC reports and shaping Horizon Europe’s agenda, to launching community initiatives in Karnataka and expanding our presence in Africa and Asia, this year reflects Future Earth’s commitment to Systems-level change.
Future Earth also expanded its commitment to inclusive collaboration and storytelling. They supported the next generation of researchers, strengthened Global South-led projects, and deepened engagement on digital transformation and justice-centered approaches to sustainability. Anthropocene Magazine reached new audiences with compelling journalism on sustainability science and innovation. The Earth Commission’s landmark assessment, the Special Collection in Global Sustainability, and the Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress showcased the scale, diversity, and ambition of our global network.
As Future Earth looks back on a year of shared progress and growing momentum, they also recognize the shifting landscape ahead. Scientific, political, and institutional transitions continue to reshape the context in which they work.
