Assessment Reports

IPCC Full Assessment Reports compile the knowledge on climate processes, impact, adaptation and mitigation.
The reports are compiled over a range of five to seven years. More than thousand scientists around the world are involved as authors or reviewers. The reports consist of several volumes of about 1000 pages each.

The reports normally contain 3 volumes (one volume per working group: WG I, WG II, WG III), as well as a cross-group synthesis report. In addition, there is a general summary and a summary especially for policy makers.

Latest Assessment Report

The Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the IPCC presents the latest state of scientific knowledge. The first volume of AR6 (WG I) was published on 6 August 2021, the second volume (WG II) on 28 February 2022 and the third volume (WG III) on 4 April 2022. The synthesis report (SYR AR6) was publishedon 20 March 2023.

Special Reports

IPCC Special Reports and technical papers compile the scientific knowledge on specific climate related topics. The reports are compiled by key scientists around the world who act as authors or reviewers.
The Special Peports are generally published in full length, as a summary and as a summary for policy makers, similar to the Assessment Reports.
