The ‘10 New Insights in Climate Science’ (10NICS) report has been launched since 2017 at the UNFCCC COP with the participation of the Executive Secretary. This is a joint initiative of Future Earth, The Earth League, and The World Climate Research Programme.

The report itself is based on the contents of an academic manuscript submitted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. This ensures the rigour and credibility of the report. The manuscript from last year was published in the journal Global Sustainability, as was the case in 2020 and 2021.

The 10NICS process starts with a request to researchers across and beyond our institutional networks, aiming to gather contributions from around the world and covering a wide range of topic expertise. We also use this questionnaire to identify potential co-authors for the policy report and the academic manuscript.

Contrinutions are welcome: Please share what you consider to be a key recent advance in climate change research that you think should be highlighted for policymakers. Relevant topics span a very broad scholarship on the underlying dynamics and impacts of climate change, and the possible means for confronting the climate emergency.

This call will close on 17 February 2023.
